Help me export movie with chapters, plus another question

Hi so I'm running a mac mini with el Capitan and fcpx with idvd. I can't get iDVD to recognize the chapters, yes i checked the box before exporting..Also my movie is only 39 min long. Why when i export it its 6.66 Gigs?? and its changed a couple times when i just use Master file to export it..it was once at 2 gig now its at over 6. how does this happen what am i missing..sorry for the questions..I also have compressor but don't know what to really use on there as well..thanks

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), ssd, 16g ram

Enter the Chapter Markers in the Time Line od FCP X.

Export as a Master File. This may be larger than he starting point as the original footage may be compressed.

Drag the Master File into iDVD. Make sure iDVD is set to accept Markers.

Also, suggest double checking those markers to verify they are chapter markers.

Do not put a chapter marker at zero. Every video file has a start marker.

HI thanks..im wondering why this 39 min video is 6.66 gigs? shouldn't it be like 2 gigs?

am i on the right track with this timeline and exporting as Master file video codec H.264

File size depends on a lot of things - including the duration, frame size, codec, and more.

At this point you are exporting a master file, which will be larger than the output of iDVD, since DVD is much morehighly compressed.

A 39 minute DVD does not use the same space as 39 minute HD movie in ProRes.

Throw in my 2¢…IMO, iDVD produces better results if it's given an i frame codec like Pro Res 422 or Pro Res LT than a long GOP codex like H.264.
